My Role: Project Lead & Backend Architect
As the group leader of a 4-person development team, I directed the project roadmap while taking primary responsibility for the database architecture and the majority of the backend infrastructure.
Figure: Auto Repair Shop Database Schema.
Architecture & Implementation
What I provided in the project:
- Database Schema Design: Architected a relational database schema tailored for an auto repair business. The design efficiently digitizes operations by tracking assigned mechanics, managing customer statuses (pending vs. completed), and logging a complete history of all shop activities.
- Backend Logic & Integration: Engineered the majority of the backend logic. I focused on building the systems responsible for storing, processing, and relaying information seamlessly between the MySQL database and the frontend website to ensure a smooth user experience.
- Advanced SQL Implementation: Since showcasing database proficiency was the main goal, I developed complex SQL architecture. This included implementing optimized joins, triggers, and specific scenario-based queries tailored to the real-world operational needs and events of an auto shop.
Results & Insights
It was quite a challenge making each table and feature talk seamlessly together — from all the implemented triggers and optimized join logic to get necessary information. We were able to pass and present with flying colors.
